The Pros and Cons of Executive Suites

Last week we discussed some of the pros and cons of virtual offices and how they are a good option for entrepreneurs and risk-averse startups. The same can be said for the closely-related executive office suite, with the addition of many more business verticals, such as small, medium and large enterprise. In addition to the benefits conferred by executive offices, there are a few pitfalls to avoid with this type of turnkey office space.

There is a wide variety of benefits that you’ll find in your search for executive suites, from flexibility, location, turnkey options and services, etc. We won’t focus on every benefit in this post. Instead, we’ll focus on three items we’ve seen satisfy many of the clients at ValleyHQ lately.

First, nearly all executive suite space is move-in ready. With today’s troubled marketplace, many firms needs have changed very quickly. Luckily, the executive suite industry is quite flexible and allows businesses to be nimble which includes immediate move-in, and with proper planning, easy end-of-agreement terms (see our post on how to select an executive office suite).

Second, executive suites have invested heavily in telecommunications and related technologies. With both fast internet connections and advanced telephone features, businesses have no need to hassle with getting the right setup at the right price. Business who select an executive office suite can be assured they are getting some of the best communication options available.

Last, clients of executive office suites appreciate the ability to utilize meeting rooms, lounges and break areas. For a small 1-5 person traditional office space, it is difficult to find an office at the right price that comes with a kitchen, a variety of meeting rooms and other lounge areas. Many clients take advantage of the ability to meet and speak with clients out of their office in both formal (board rooms) and informal (lounge or kitchen). This helps break the day up and alleviates the monotony of sitting behind the same desk the entire day.

Now, the downside. As with virtual offices, executive office suites are not for everyone. Larger firms are typically better suited to lease their own space if they are looking for a long term solution. Some entrepreneurs would also be better suited to use executive suites as part-time virtual offices. Typically, these are entrepreneurs who are on the road a lot, who don’t need the phone answering or other turnkey services.

Here is the bottom line: as businesses seek more flexibility and workers are more distributed, serviced office space is gaining momentum. If you need a bricks and mortar office space but need flexibility, telecommunication and reception services, and executive office suite is for you.
